I’m truckless for the time being. I just dropped my truck off at the transmission shop that the PO got the clutch done at back in september. It was warrantied to 12,000 miles/12 months. And its only been 8 months and 7,000 miles. They think its the pressure plate, and Id have to agree. Its getting doen for free. Thank the PO for getting quality work done. But this is the first repair my truck will have done under my ownership not done by my hands. Im kinda antsy about this.

You’ll probably be alright. They honored their work with little or no hassle even with a new owner, sounds legit.

I’d be happy about that. As much as I enjoy wrenching on my car myself, I’d let a shop take care of nearly anything if it’s getting done for free.

I think it’s less “pressure plate” and more “inexperienced driver" that caused the clutch issue.

That's great it's under a transferable warranty. Not everyone does that. I feel if they're willing to back up their work like that it's in good hands.

Quality work? Maybe, even probably.
Quality parts? Doubt it.
Pressure plate goes bad in 7000 miles? At your torque level? Ehhhhhhhhh with a side of Ehhhhhh.

I dunno man, in order to roast something like this so quickly he’d have to be extremely shitty and we probably would have heard about it. 220 lb-ft (probably less due to age) isn’t exactly scattershield territory. My guess is cheap ass parts.

I really doubt that. To roast a clutch in 7k you’d need to be launching it at full throttle all the damn time.

They use luk clutches, so theyre quality. But even quality parts can have manufacturing defects. There is no reason it should have failed this early. It always juttered when getting into first on a hill, so I suspect the PO didnt break it in correctly

Ya, if anyone I know needs trans work, I’d recommend this shop in a heartbeat. But tbh, I dont like giving my truck to other mechanics. I wish I couldve done this myself

Or maybe there was an issue with the hydraulic system and it didn’t release properly.
See if they will let you look at the old stuff when it comes out.
